How to prepare for your tattoo appointment

This is a guide on what to do to prepare for your upcoming tattoo appointment. These are things I’ve learned from my professional tattooing experience as well as getting tattooed. I strongly encourage you to follow these tips as it will make a big difference on appointment day.

Do:

✧ Stay hydrated the day-of

✧ Lightly exfoliate/moisturize the area daily in the week prior (stop doing this the day before your appointment)

✧ Eat a good meal with adequate protein prior to appointment

Don’t:

✧ Don’t have more than 1 alcoholic drink 48 hours prior or show up hungover (If you do, you will potentially be sent home as it makes tattooing significantly harder).

✧ Don’t show up sunburnt — limit sun exposure in week prior. I cannot tattoo burnt skin.

✧ Don’t come if you feel the onset of a cold— getting tattooed will add an extra strain on your immune system and make a virus much more intense/last longer.

✧ No ibuprofen 24 hours prior

Bring:

✧ Water

✧ A snack/lunch (we also have plenty of snacks if needed)

✧ If you have an all-day appointment and want to pack a lunch, we have a fridge and microwave! You can also order food to the shop

✧ Something to occupy yourself — headphones, a book, your phone, etc

✧ A sweatshirt/extra layer
